Evidence of Other Acts - Evidence Rule 404(b)
You have heard evidence that the defendant may have engaged in conduct other than the crime currently charged. You should weigh it in the same way as you do all of the other evidence in this case, and only give it the weight that you believe it deserves. If you find this evidence has no weight, then you should disregard it entirely.
Evidence of other acts is never sufficient, standing alone, to justify the defendant’s conviction. The State’s burden is to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crimes currently charged, and this cannot be done only by showing that the defendant has committed similar acts in the past.
