Opinion Testimony of Non-Expert
A non-expert witness may testify to his or her opinion if it is rationally based on the witness’s perceptions and helpful to a clear understanding of the testimony.
In determining the weight to be given to an opinion expressed by a non-expert witness, you should consider the witness’s credibility, the extent of the witness’s opportunity to perceive the matters upon which the opinion is based, and the reasons, if any, given for the witness’s opinion. You are not required to accept a non-expert witness’s opinion but should give it the weight, if any, to which you find it entitled.
